Ääres - taidetapahtumassa rantakivien lomaan, osittain veden alle sijoittuvan Aallonpitäjät - teoksen hienovaraista muutosta voi tarkkailla kesän mittaan. Teosta työstäessään Vekkeli on ollut kiinnostunut ajasta ja materiasta, siitä miten aika muokkaa materiaa yhdessä veden kanssa. Ehkä teos on metafora, yritys niputtaa rantautuvat aallot, sitoa aika. Se on suurennettu ja pelkistetty versio Vekkelin galleriatiloihin rakentamista, vedenalaisista veistosasetelmista, joissa eri vahvuisiksi poltetut keramiikkaveistokset hajosivat eri nopeuksin. Teoksessa korostuu jäljen jättämisen teema. Rauta painautuu keramiikkaan, ruostuu veden vaikutuksesta ja jättää jäljen.  

Enni Vekkeli työskentelee liikkuvan kuvan ja laajennetun keraamisen kuvanveiston parissa hyödyntäen työskentelyssään keramiikan primitiivipolttomenetelmiä. Hän on valmistunut Saimaan Ammattikorkeakoulusta kuvataiteilijaksi vuonna 2018. Viimeisimpänä taiteilijan teoksia on ollut esillä Seinäjoen Taidehallin Statuomania- ryhmänäyttelyssä (2025) sekä SIC - galleriassa Kotibileet! - ryhmänäyttelyssä (2024) Helsingissä. Vekkelin teoksia on Valtion sekä Museo Omeron (Italia) taidekokoelmissa.

Wave Keepers

Wave Keepers is located among the shore stones and partially underwater at the Ääres art trail and the subtle transformation of the artwork can be observed throughout the summer. While working on the piece, Vekkeli has been interested in time and material and how time shapes material together with water. Perhaps the work is a metaphor, an attempt to bundle the waves that are coming ashore, to bind time. It is an enlarged and reduced version of the gallery version of Vekkeli’s underwater sculpture installations, in which ceramic sculptures fired to different strengths disintegrated at different speeds. The theme of leaving a mark is emphasized in the work. Iron is pressed into the ceramics, which rusts under the influence of water and leaves a mark.

Enni Vekkeli works with moving images and expanded ceramic sculpture, utilizing primitive firing methods of ceramics in her work. She graduated from Saimaa University of Applied Sciences as a visual artist in 2018. The artist's works have most recently been exhibited in the Statuomania group exhibition at the Seinäjoki Art Hall (2025) and the Kotibileet! group exhibition at the SIC gallery in Helsinki (2024). Vekkeli's works are in the art collections of the State and Museo Omero (Italy).
